A Certified Farmers' Market is one in which farmers, growers or producers from a defined local area are present in person to sell their own produce, direct to the customer. All products sold are grown, reared, caught, brewed, pickled, baked, smoked or processed by the stallholder.

Vale Royal Farmers' Market is run by farming families and is FARMA Certified.

FARMA National Farmers' Retail and Markets Association was formed after the amalgamation of FRA Farm Retail Association and NAFM National Association of Farmers' Markets and represents over 600 Farm Shops, Pick Your Own & Box Schemes and over 200 Certified Farmers' Markets throughout England, Scotland, Wales and N.Ireland with associates in Southern Ireland, America & Holland.

Fresh Seasonal Vegetables, Smoked Trout, Cheshire Honey, Olives & Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Seasonal Fresh Herbs, Bread, Salads, Bournes Cheshire Cheese, Cheshire Yoghurts, Organic Potatoes, Organic & Free Range Eggs, Cakes, Wild Boar, Rabbit and Game in Season, Farley Farm Meat Pies, Homemade Fudge, Beers, Goat Products, Homemade Family Jams, Walking Sticks, Love Spoons and Wood Products, Soaps, Aprons.

Fresh Seasonal Fruits, Cheshire Apple Juice, Cheshire Cider and Granny Haworth's Homemade Jams are sold in the Farm Shop.

Conditions and Guidelines for Traders at VRFM
1) All produce/products offered for sale must be locally grown or produced.
Wherever possible, processed goods should contain at least 10% ingredients of local origin.
Locally means within 50 miles of the farmers' market. Producers outside this radius will be allowed to trade if no local producer is available or wishing to sell this product.

2) Producers must sell only their own produce at the stall.
NO BOUGHT IN PRODUCE IS ALLOWED TO BE SOLD.
Only certified organic produce can trade under the ORGANIC label.
Produce grown without the use of chemicals can state this fact.
No Genetically Modified produce, or goods containing genetically modified ingredients may be knowingly sold.

3) Only the producer, family or an employee/ representative of the organisation who is directly involved with the growing/producing of the product on sale is permitted to sell the produce.

4) Pre-packed produce must be labeled with the growers/producers name and full address,
with the exception of fruit and vegetables.

5) Food must be labeled and priced according to legal requirements.

6) Only good quality and wholesome food should be sold. Produce should be well displayed and presented. Packaging should be kept as minimal as possible. Stall areas should be kept clean and floor areas tidied at the end of the market.

7) Stalls must display business or group name, address and telephone number together with details, preferably including a map, of where the products were grown or produced.

8) All stalls and produce should comply with Food Safety Regulations. Please note that any stall with open (not pre-packed) high risk food (eg. meat, cheese, dairy, sandwiches) must agree to abide by the appropriate Environmental Health regulations. All traders requiring refrigeration must provide their own equipment.

9) All stallholders must have adequate employee, public and product liability insurance.

10) Opening hours 10am to 2pm. Stalls should not close down or pack up during these hours, except in exceptional circumstances and as agreed with the Market Manager.

11) Stall fees as set by the VRFM Association and are payable on the day.

12) At least 72 hours notice is required if you are unable to attend a particular market.

Any trader found in breach of the above conditions and guidelines
will be asked by the market manager to leave the market.
